Make A Difference

 From Mark Goodrich, Pastor of  Deployment  and Assimilation, Grace Community Church

 “I believe we have hundreds of people who are eager to Make a Difference at Grace Community Church. Does that sound weird?   Maybe so, but I believe it.  God has work for us to do and God has people to do his work. Just this week I talked with a woman who has been coming to Grace for some time, never having made a contribution. In the fall she watched from a distance during the ”Making a Difference” Sundays. She was literally infected with enthusiasm those weekends. She did not make any move at that time, however, she came to a realization that she was missing out on something. She has since jumped in and is making a contribution that is growing and expanding and we all will benefit from it. “

On Sunday, May 15th, the first ever Grace Service Fair took place. The emphasis for the day was not on promoting a ministry. The emphasis of the day was to promote serving.  Opportunities to make a difference are all around us.

Here are a few of the details for the May 15th Service Fair:

On Sunday, May 15th, Mark Norman delivered a message on serving.     Each morning worship service was shortened to allow for some time for people to investigate all the ministries and their serving opportunities outside at the Fair
In the parking lot that morning, we had a big a tent for the Fair.  In that tent were ministries that have "specific" jobs for people to do. We were not promoting ministries such as the Men's Ministry or MEN Alive, but we asked MEN Alive if they have any needs for volunteers to serve in a specific role. For example MEN Alive may have need of an administrative volunteer.  This is the idea of what we wanted to foster. Get the idea?

The Ministries Participating at the Service Fair were: Youth,  Children, Adults, Fusion, Grace Cares, Guest Services, Community Based  Organizations (CBO’s), and Worship. Each Ministry area had its own color  listed below;

Fusion Lime Green

Adults  Teal Green

Youth  Red

Children  Yellow

Guest  Service  Orange

Worship  Purple

Grace Cares  Blue

Grace Cares -   Light Blue

What next? If you didn’t jump in on May 15th there are still two weeks after the fair to sign up on Sunday in the lobby. Please pray for God to show you where you can Jump In and Make A Difference and sign up or contact the ministry of your choice.
