Progress report from the new building site August, 2005

8/12/05 Building Update

Hello Everyone,

It's time for another update. We have been very busy down here this month, and have made a lot of progress.

The exterior walls of both buildings have their masonry and metal panels complete now. Most of the windows are installed complete with the glass.

The interior masonry is completed in the lobby, and the masons are cleaning up and ready to leave the site.

All of the floor slabs in both buildings are poured, including the seating tiers in the Warehouse and the stage in the main auditorium. The balcony concrete is also complete.

The Administration building has it's ceiling grid installed, interior walls framed, door frames set, and mechanical and electrical work roughed in. The drywall is being hung, and insulation installed as of this writing. The HVAC devices are being set into the ceiling and attached to the ductwork. The sprinklers have been adjusted to the proper locations in the ceiling tiles.

The Learning Center also has it's ceiling grid installed, interior walls framed, door & interior pass through frames set, and the mechanical and electrical rough in is in progress.

The Kid Zone has it's exterior walls drywalled and finished, and the ceiling grid is being installed. The rigging for the lights, video, and sound is installed.

In the Auditoruim building, the mechanical area walls are framed and some drywall is hung. The electrical switchgear is installed, and the remainder of the many panels and equipment is being installed in the main electrical room. The Auditorium underfloor conduits for the sound system are complete, and the floor has been poured. We are currently installing a scaffolding system to allow the workers access to the entire ceiling area to install all of the lights, HVAC ducts, and sound systems from a safe working height.

The HVAC ductwork is continuing throughout the building, and the duct insulators are following behind. The gas lines are complete and inspected to the rooftop HVAC units. The plumbers have finished most of the plumbing for the main restrooms.

The last of the base paving was completed this month, including the second entrance and the road widening. The curb and sidewalk on the commuter parking lot is completed. The remaining sidewalks and site concrete is being placed now.BGE has activated the electrical tap that will soon serve the building.

The Warehouse is now enclosed except for the glass front entrance wall. The interior framing is in progress now, along with the electrical rough in.

I want to express my appreciation to all of you who are abiding by our requests to stay out of the site. Once again, while I understand your excitement as the work progresses, I can not allow visitors onto the site at this time. Please do not drive onto the site during working hours. The site is now gated, and due to recent thefts, anyone seen inside the fence after hours will be stopped by the police and ID will be recorded. I know that sounds pretty "small box", but some things need to be.
