Prayer request for a delicate operation on a little girl

Thanks from Mom and praise for the Lord

A friend of mine has a 7 year old daughter who is in need of prayer. She
has been having seizures and is going into surgery soon to correct the
problem. Here are the details from an email I received: "Today we went to
see Dr. Weingart at Hopkins.  Kenzie is going to have surgery either
Friday November 18th or Monday November 21st. We are supposed to get a
call tomorrow for confirmation of the surgery date. The surgery will take
3-4 hours.  She will be in the Neurosurgery ICU for 24 hours and then will
be on the regular floor for about 3 days. If all goes well then she will
be discharged and home for Thanksgiving.

For the actual surgery they will make a 4 inch incision at the base of her
skull.  They will perform a lamenectomy on her 1st cervical spine to allow
more room for the nerves to go down the spinal column.  They will remove a
portion of her skull, which they will graft back after the surgery. They
will cut the Durra (the covering of the Nerves) to make additional space.
This should encourage the tonsils of her Cerebellum to shrink back up into
the normal position of her brain. This surgery should allow her brain to
return to it's normal position resolving the brain herniation.  It will
also  resolve the pockets of spinal fluid that have collected along her
spine, allowing restoration of normal flow of her spinal fluid to the
 brain and spine."

This sounds so encouraging, and I wanted to pass this information along to
the prayer team in order to help pray for the family and McKenzie.
Interim report-
Kenzie is doing fine.  They're going to move her to her own room (out of
ICU) this afternoon, Sunday. Her surgery has relieved the pressure on her
brain and she is able to say a few words and recognize everyone. Please let
the prayer team know of her progress and the great things God is doing.

Thanks-
Rebecca
Final report-
Thank you all so much for all your love and support through this journey.
This was a very difficult and painful operation for Kenzie to have to go
through, but she has a new lease on life without headaches & an upset stomach.

She is viewing the world through a new set of eyes.  She said, “Wow, so
this is what it feels like to be normal”.    We go on Tuesday to get her
Stitches out and then our last hurdle will be for her Skull Bone Graft to heal
which will take approximately one year."

They sent a series of photos of her surgical journey and it was just amazing
and overwhelming to see her as a happy little girl in the end. It just reminds
me of God's awesome power and love.

Thanks again for your support and prayers-
Rebecca
